The FAF, being a public corporation as well as part of the section of industry of the Chamber of Commerce of Austria, represents the interests of the members from the film and music industry. The occupational groups represented in the FAF cover the following areas: • film and video production, • studio enterprises, • printing and reversal film processing laboratories, electronic duplication, • film distribution and film sales, video sales, • sound studios, production of sound storage media, • pressing of records, CD’s and other sound storage media. The FAF operates at a national level for the whole of Austria and is supported by special representatives in each federal state. The membership in the FAF is legally based on the member’s authorization of trade. The enterprises represented in the FAF show a production volume of more than a billion Euros and employ over 4000 white-collar and blue-collar workers in Austria. Altogether about 2500 enterprises with about 3500 trade authorizations are represented at present. In recent years the Austrian film has achieved remarkable success at festivals, but also due to its presence on the market in spite of low budget and the well-known difficulties of the European film market. It is the task of the FAF to create or even improve basic conditions in order to protect, support and boost the position for film, music and all branches included. In a network with other national organizations and by international cooperation and within the participation in European initiatives (FIAPF, CEPI, Film 20) numerous tasks have be performed, ranging from basic ones in a social partnership (e.g. collective agreement negotiations) to initiatives to increase the capital basis of enterprises, the protection and increase of public support respectively the completion by new financing models (cue: tax model for the film industry) to direct FAF-promotion. With this homepage we do not only want to give you a review of the activities of the FAF, but also a service about film and music-relevant information.
