Started in April 2007, the APC is comprised of 120 production companies, attempting to create a new strong union aiming to improve and reinforce their professional reputation.
These 120 produces work together to resconstruct the status of the Chambre Syndicale des Producteurs de Films, created in 1944, which led to creation of numerous professional organisations: le Festival de Cannes, le Marché du Film à Cannes, UNIFRANCE, la PROCIREP (société civile pour la perception et la répartition des droits de représentation publique des films cinématographiques), l'ANGOA (Association de Gestion Internationale Collective des Oeuvres Audiovisuelles), EUROCINEMA, le CICCE (Comité des Industries Cinématographiques et Audiovisuelles des Communautés Européennes et de l'Europe extracommunautaire).
A parent organisation working closely with its employ companies, the APC presides over the Comité Central d'Hygiène, de Sécurité et des Conditions de Travail de la Production Cinématographique (CCHSCT), and is in charge of the collective aggrements of the sector : Conventions Collectives des techniciens et ouvriers de la production cinématographique (dénoncées en mars 2007 et actuellement en cours de renégociation), Convention Collective des artistes interprètes...
Their actions work in favor of permiting french production companies to obtain numerous favourable legislative positions. The APC is run by a Directors Board of 37 members and a cabnet of 8 members.
