VOD rights
When facing the management of VOD rights in France and Europe, it must be clear that if a broadcaster wants to preserve their VOD / TV exclusivity over a specific film, they need to pay again for the film’s rights.
Since no pricing system has been devised for VOD rights in any European country, data is hard to collect. However, the average VOD rights for a German 90-minute feature film in Germany revolves around 600 euros, an amount ridiculously low. All this is taking place at a moment when revenues for VOD begin to rise (in 2007, the industry expected revenues amounting to 30 million euros; figures show that in Western Europe, VOD accounted for 10% of the DVD revenues six months before). Please consult the position taken in December 2007.
